Discover the distinctive mangrove eco-system of Khao Garose in the north of Krabi town on a spectacular kayak trip.
Paddle through a maze of narrow canyons to the hidden lagoon of Ao Thueak. It is surrounded by steep limestone cliffs. Visit the Bat Cave.
In the afternoon you will discover the local community of Nai Nang village. Learn about how the bee keeping collective is helping to restore the mangrove forest.
Itinerary
Meals included: Lunch
- 09.00 Pick up from your hotel in Krabi and enjoy a scenic drive through rural villages to the rugged coastline in the north of Krabi.
- 09.30 Meet the lovely crew at Wang Toh Tao Pier near Nai Nang village where you will undergo a short health check-up. Start paddling into the bay of Khao Ga Rose together with your knowledgeable local guide. Enter a maze of mangrove surrounded natural waterways and follow the course of the river until you reach Ao Thueak lagoon to take a refreshing dip. You will also visit the ‘Bat Cave’, a sea cave that was formed by tectonic and erosion processes.
- 12.00 Return back to the pier and enjoy a Thai style lunch. Then it is time to explore the local community of Nai Nang village which includes over 45 families who depend primarily on traditional small-scale fishing and farming.
- 13.00 Visit the bee keeping collective and learn about mangrove forest conservation whilst using bees to assist with the pollination.
- Further activities include a visit of a typical goat farm. In the surroundings you will notice many rubber tree plantations where the locals harvest latex by slicing a groove into the bark of the tree with a hooked knife.
- Try rubber tapping yourself and experience genuine Thai local culture.
- 15.00 Transfer to your hotel in Krabi, end of program.
